Is Student Shield really free? What’s the catch?

Student Shield is truly free for the first month. There are no ads, no data selling, no surprise charges and no upsell pressure during that period. We offer this because addiction and mental health risks often hit families who have the fewest resources, and we believe every teen deserves a baseline of hourly protection. It does cost a lot to run TeenBack well, so after the free month the teen or family can choose whether to continue with a paid plan. But that first month of Student Shield is exactly what it sounds like: real support, at no cost.

Why would a parent upgrade to Family Bridge?
